In the next couple years I'd like to start a rally project, and I think the top two contenders right now are a Z or Fox body Mustang.

Well those are very different cars haha, but if you want classic rally events you have to go 73' and under generally. If you don't care I would find a 260Z as they are cheaper than the 240z out there, plus if you want to rally you are going to need to start with a project and there are more later Zs out there. But if you see a decent 240 for a good price go for it. Mine is original save the 5 speed upgrade and triple carbs so I can enter the events that require certain things, so many rules. I have new wheels coming today in fact. My mechanical build is almost complete, I still want to repaint it and get rid of the strips on the sides, I hate them.

Yeah, I'd be looking for something cheaper/beaterish. Basically I'll be looking for a cheap FR car with plenty of parts availability and aftermarket support. I figure both the Z and Fox body fit the bill.
